Sustainability
Small choices. Lasting impact.
Sustainability isn't about chasing trends or making big promises.
It's about treating the land, the ingredients, and the people around us with care. Every decision we make is an opportunity to leave things a little better than we found them—and that's a philosophy we're proud to bake into every treat.
Close to home
This starts by growing as many of our own ingredients as we can, whether it be the apples from the orchard, the herbs from the garden, or the eggs from the chickens in the coop, and sourcing the rest as locally as possible.
Organic practices
Though we aren’t certified organic, we do use organic gardening practices. No pesticides, herbicides, or insecticides are used on anything we grow.
We don't call our treats "organic" because that word has a specific legal meaning. Instead, we focus on what matters most: choosing exceptional ingredients from growers we trust, many of whom use organic and sustainable practices whether they're certified or not.
Our priority is what goes into the treat — not just the label.
We avoid buzzwords and certification claims and instead communicate our ingredient standards clearly and honestly.
Packaging
Packaging is one of those behind-the-scenes choices customers rarely see—but it's one of the easiest ways for us to reduce unnecessary plastic without changing what matters most: great treats.
- The bags in which we sell our treats are almost commercially compostable.
- All of our packaging styles are made from paper with plant-based cellulose windows, not plastic.
- The shipping materials we use are either recycled, made from post-consumer recycled materials, and/or are recyclable themselves.
Community
I can't adopt every dog that needs a home (believe me, I've tried to make the case), so I've found another way to help.
That’s where Treat It Forward and Rescue Rewards come in.
Dough Face Dog Treats donates 10% of sales to local dogs in need. To date, we have donated nearly $6,000 to rescues and shelters in our community.
The more you buy, the more we give.
