My Life With Dogs
(the about me page)
Life with dogs is messy, joyful, and a little bit obsessive.
If you’re the kind of person who thinks about what your dog eats - you read labels, second-guess, and fall down rabbit holes trying to figure out what’s actually good for them…
same.
I’m Julia - dog mom first, dog treat maker second.
And everything I make starts there.
Dough Face Dog Treats didn’t start as a business idea. It started the way most good things do - with my own dogs: Gambol and Puck (who will always be part of this story), and now Chewie and Grendel. I wanted to feel confident about the treats I was giving them, so I started paying closer attention… and then making my own.
Not because it was easier.
Because it felt better.
How I Think About Feeding My Dogs
I don’t claim to have all the answers. But I do try to be intentional.
That means:
- choosing real, recognizable ingredients
- keeping things simple when possible
- doing the research when I don’t know something
- and thinking about the bigger picture - not just my dogs, but my home, my community, and the environment we all share
Some days that looks like baking treats.
Some days it looks like reading ingredient labels for way too long.
Most days it looks like just doing the best I can.
Why Dough Face Is Different
There are a lot of good dog treats out there. Truly.
What I care about is how treats fit into real life with dogs - the kind where you have multiple dogs, different needs, limited time, and a lot going on.
So I make treats that are:
- intentionally scored* so you can break them into smaller pieces
- practical for households with more than one dog
- and designed to make everyday moments just a little easier
Because feeding your dog well should support your life - not complicate it.
The Bigger Picture
Everything I make is shaped by the same idea:
Small, Thoughtful Choices Add Up
- ingredients are grown or sourced locally when possible
- packaging is compostable or recyclable
- 10% of sales goes back to local rescue dogs
Not because it’s perfect - just because it’s better than not trying.
Real Life, Not a Photoshoot
This brand is built in the middle of real life.
Dirty paws.
Flour on the counter.
Dogs underfoot while I’m trying to work.
Joyful. Messy. Heartfelt. Full of love. Real.
Because that’s what Dough Face really is.
