About Your Business

1. In a sentence or two, how would you describe your business?
Three Danes Farmstand is a self-serve farmstand in Arcade, NY offering fresh baked goods alongside a carefully curated selection of handmade goods, and everyday favorites from small businesses. Built around community, quality, and supporting local makers, the farmstand provides a unique, welcoming shopping experience seven days a week.

2. What inspired you to start your business?
Growing up, my mom owned a bakery and restaurant, and I always dreamed of following in her footsteps. There is something special about creating something for people and knowing that your work can become part of their everyday lives and special moments.

In 2022, my husband and I purchased our grain bin to use as a bar for our wedding. After the wedding, it sat unused for several years. I had always had the idea of turning it into a farmstand and becoming a home baker, but I wasn’t ready to take the leap.

Then, in April 2024, my mom suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. Thankfully, she made a miraculous recovery, but the experience changed my perspective on life. I realized that life really is too short to keep putting your dreams on hold, so I decided to take the leap, start the farmstand, open the bakery, and finally follow the dream I had carried with me for years.

Three Danes Farmstand is the result of that decision: a business built from a lifelong love of baking, a little grain bin that finally found its purpose, and the reminder that sometimes you just have to take the chance and go for it.

3. What makes your business different or special?
Three Danes Farmstand is a small town hidden gem in Arcade, NY, offering small-batch baked goods made with high-quality ingredients, seasonal fresh flowers, and a wide variety of carefully curated items you won’t find just anywhere. We are committed to supporting other small and local businesses and creating a place where customers can discover something new every time they visit.

We are also fortunate to be expanding with a second building, allowing us to offer an even larger variety of products, including expanded freezer and cooler selections.

And, of course, the name Three Danes is a reflection of our family. Our three Great Danes are a big part of our lives, and being Great Dane owners has become part of who we are. Naming the business after them was just one more way to make the farmstand feel like an extension of our family and our home.

The People Behind the Business

4. Who is behind the business?
Three Danes Farmstand is truly a husband-and-wife business. I’m Alex, and my husband Nick and I run everything ourselves, from baking and stocking the stand to building, cleaning, creating displays, managing vendors, and all of the behind-the-scenes work that keeps the business going.

Nick works full-time for a propane company, and I work part-time in healthcare while we continue to grow the farmstand. We don’t have any employees or outside help, so every part of Three Danes is something we have built and continue to do together.

5. Is there a person, pet, or story that's especially part of your business?
Our Great Danes are a huge part of who we are, and they are the inspiration behind the name and logo of Three Danes Farmstand. Our world has always revolved around our dogs, so it felt natural to make them part of our business too.

Our current pack-Diesel, our almost 10-year-old “old man,” Chip, who is 7 our sensitive guy, and Dahlia, our 1-year-old wild child are the three Great Danes featured in our logo. They each have very different personalities, but they are all a big part of our family and everyday life.

Our first Great Dane, Paisley, passed away in 2025 and is not pictured in our logo, but she was a very special part of our family and the beginning of our journey as Great Dane owners. Our dogs have brought so much personality, joy, and, admittedly a lot chaos into our lives. Three Danes is more than just a business name, it represents a huge part of who we are.

Your Community

6. What do you love about being part of your local community?
One of our favorite parts of having Three Danes Farmstand is being able to connect our community with high-quality products from local farmers, makers, and small businesses. We love giving our customers a place to find fresh baked goods, local foods, and unique products, while also knowing that their purchases are helping support other small businesses right here in our community.

We are fortunate to have built relationships with so many local vendors and farmers, and we love being able to give their products another place to be discovered. We also believe in giving back to the community that supports us, whether through donations, supporting local causes, or simply being a small part of making our community a little stronger.

To us, shopping local is about more than buying something. It’s about creating connections between the people who grow, make, bake, and create-and the people who live right here that want to support them.

7. What is one thing you wish more people knew about your business?

Our ultimate goal is to grow Three Danes into a farm market with a commercial kitchen, where we can continue expanding our bakery and offer even more local products. We also dream of creating a place where people can slow down and enjoy the farm experience itself, including having animals such as cows that families can come see. We want it to be more than somewhere you stop to shop, we want it to become a destination and a place that people in our community look forward to visiting.

What people see today is just the beginning of what we hope Three Danes will become.
